Six Years Strong: Mayor Small Delivers Another Tax Break for Atlantic City
For the sixth year in a row, Mayor Marty Small, Sr. is putting Atlantic City taxpayers first—delivering another property tax reduction and continuing a winning streak that sets his administration apart across the state.
As part of the newly adopted 2025 municipal budget, Atlantic City residents will benefit from a 3.4-cent decrease in the local tax rate. This latest cut is more than just a number—it’s a powerful reflection of Mayor Small’s steadfast commitment to fiscal responsibility, economic fairness, and everyday families.
“From day one, I promised to fight for the financial well-being of our residents—and I’ve kept that promise every single year,” said Mayor Small. “Taxpayers deserve results, not rhetoric—and this administration continues to deliver.”
The 2025 budget totals $258.1 million (excluding grants) and reflects a disciplined, community-centered approach to financial management. Despite economic challenges and rising costs facing cities across the country, the Small administration has consistently lowered taxes while protecting core services and driving forward major development efforts.
This success didn’t happen by accident. It was achieved through the collaboration of a dedicated leadership team—including Business Administrator Anthony Swan, CFO Toro Aboderin, Budget Officer Tom Monoghan, City Auditor Leon Costello, State Monitor Wes Swain, and NJ DCA Commissioner Jacquelyn Suárez. Together, under Mayor Small’s direction, the team crafted a budget that puts people first and positions Atlantic City for long-term success.
In addition to tax relief, the administration continues to drive bold economic development—including the advancement of transformational projects like Bader Field—while also strengthening the city’s fiscal outlook. With a recent credit rating upgrade from S&P and additional upgrades on the horizon, Atlantic City is steadily building investor confidence and opening new doors for growth.
Six consecutive tax cuts is a rare achievement in municipal government. But in Atlantic City, it’s become the standard under Mayor Marty Small—a reflection of leadership rooted in discipline, transparency, and a deep commitment to community.
“This is more than just good budgeting,” Mayor Small added. “It’s proof that when you lead with integrity and put the people first, progress follows.”
Under Mayor Small’s leadership, Atlantic City continues to move in the right direction—with lower taxes, stronger finances, and a brighter future for every resident.
